Ticking Noise

I have a question for anyone who knows about the vr6 engine... i have a nice little ticking noise coming from my engine. It is more prominent when im racing or under heavy acceleration. The ticking noise goes away at about 4000 rpm and my car takes off like i just sprayed nos. whats going on? is it a sticky lifter, is the variable valve timing miss adjusted or completely going bad?

Re: Ticking Noise

almost every VR6... ok EVERY VR6 I have been around has a tick from the valves. my mk3 did it from the day I bought it... didn't change after the turbo went on.... didn't change after i rebuilt the motor and automotive machine COMPLETELY rebuilt the head. if it's cold it could be minor piston slap. nothing to be concerned about unless it starts knocking.

it's the nature of the motor.

Alright thanks...i feel like something is going bad tho...it just reciently started doing it this bad and stops right a 4 grand... so im gonna try and run some cleaner through the engine and see if its a stick lifter...if not then ill check it out when i rebuild the enging for the turbo set up... but thanks...

Re: Ticking Noise

I'm wondering if you are having the same transmission problems I had before I lost first gear... if it doesn't tick at idle I think that is the problem.

Re: Ticking Noise

I was under the impression that the ticking was just the fuel injectors.
